When Sue got the call several weeks ago and said Joe and Kelly were coming down I was definitely excited to have them stay with us. When she told me it would be with 10 teenagers for 2 and a half weeks, I said "No problem. We'll make room. It'll be fine." Then as we got closer to the date, we started to get a little nervous. That'll be 19 people under one roof. Plus 4 dogs. Yikes.
When they pulled up into the driveway, it looked like a small army marching into our house. Before I knew it, the 2 and a half weeks literally flew by and I'm here writing this blog on their last night here. Kelly and Joe managed the kids and their crazy schedule like they were all one big family and had been doing it for years. Our family was spoiled with Joe's great cooking night after night. My extensive cooking knowledge consists of scrambled eggs and when I'm really daring, a spaghetti dish. The kids were great. When we got together for a barbecue at the lagoon, my dad said to me "Those are the best behaved teenagers I've ever seen." Then they set the picnic table on fire. Just kidding. It really was a great experience for our family and our kids really bonded with the team. Now that they're leaving, Sue and I were just talking about how quiet it'll be with just us here. We might have to invite friends over to bring up the volume again.
